Week 1 Guided Question

What concerns did I have at the beginning of the externship?  What did I do or what help did I have to overcome those concerns?

Well I was warned that the first week would be overwhelming and that's pretty much how I felt.  The first few days I experienced that "in-over-my-head" feeling thus creating a fear that I wouldn't be capable of accomplishing the projects given to me.  This was also due to the fact that I wasn't too familiar with the wind power industry to begin with.

To help alleviate some of those fears, for the first few days I just allowed myself to learn as much as I could about the overall wind power industry and not even worry about the details of my projects.  I did some extra courses on Clipper University, a training module, that gave me a great overview of the company and the industry in general.  I asked LOTS of questions, probably really dumb ones like "what's the difference between AC and DC power?"  or "what's the difference between a converter and an inverter?".  Everyone here at Clipper has been very welcoming, helpful and willing to answer my questions.

This help from eveyone has really allowed me to enjoy the first week here.  Towards the end of the week I began a few of my projects and was even able to finish one already! I am much more confident now that I will not only learn a great deal from this experience in which I will take back to my classroom, but that I will be able to contribute to Clipper as well.
